Partial project
DP 027
Advanced Valorization of Waste Tires into High-Value Limonene and Purified Carbon Black
Project Duration: January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2028
Principal Investigator: VSB – Technical University of Ostrava
Project Objective:
The aim of the project is to develop and experimentally validate procedures for the material recovery of chemical recycling products from waste tires, with a focus on downstream processes leading to high-value-added raw materials. The main focus is on the isolation and refinement of limonene from pyrolysis oils using advanced separation methods, as well as the development of chemical purification of pyrolysis carbon black (rCB) for its further use in polymeric materials. The project also includes the analysis of oil fractions and an assessment of their applications in petrochemicals, resulting in a comprehensive technological solution that supports the circular economy, reduces the carbon footprint, and promotes the efficient use of secondary raw materials.
Planned outputs:
• Gfunk: Limonene extraction process (10/2028)
• Gfunk: Limonzpneu (10/2028)
• Gfunk: PurifSaze (6/2028)
• O – other results: Research report – pyrolysis and solvolysis of tires (3/2027)
• O – other results: Research report – extraction of limonene and aromatics (11/2028)
• O – other results: Research report – carbon black purification (8/2028)
