DP 023

Technical and Economic Optimization of Additive Removal and Solvent-Based Plastic Fractionation

Project Duration: February 1, 2026 – December 31, 2028

Principal Investigator: University of Technology, Prague

Project Objective:
The main objective is the technical and economic optimization of additive removal and solvent-based polymer fractionation, specifically in terms of operating costs per kilogram of recycled polymer. To this end, specialized software will be developed based, among other things, on an original thermodynamic description of solvent-based separation processes. The project will also focus on recovering valuable inorganic additives (such as flame retardants) from recycled plastics.

Planned outputs:
Gfunk: Equipment for verifying polymer re-spinning (6/2027)
Gfunk: Software for thermodynamic optimization of additive removal and fractionation (10/2027)
Gfunk: Modification module for the extraction of valuable inorganic additives (12/2027)
Ztech: Optimized costs for additive separation and fractionation (12/2028)
